People who do not know deeply about the Hizb ut-Tahrir group will certainly consider the purpose of those who want to establish the Khilafah Islamiyah as a noble ideal.
However, if we examine who they are, who is the founder, how the principles of their struggle and so on, we will know that their claim to establish the Islamic Khilafah was not done in Islamic ways.
What is Hizbut-Tahrir?
Hizbut-Tahrir (hereinafter referred to as HT) has proclaimed itself a political group (political party), not a group based solely on spirituality, not a scientific institution, not an educational institution (academic) and not a social institution. (Getting to know HT, p. 1)
On this basis, all activities carried out by HT are political, both in educating and fostering the people, in the aspect of upheaval of thought and in political struggle. (Getting to know HT, p. 16)
The missionary activities to monotheism and noble character, they are very ignored. Even they openly stated, “Likewise, preaching to noble character cannot produce a resurrection …, preaching to noble morals rather than da’wah (which can) solve the main problems of the Muslims, namely to establish a system of khilafah.” (Da’wah Strategy HT, p. 40-41)
Though da’wah to monotheism and noble character is the main mission of the prophets and apostles. Allah zza azza wa jalla asserted,
وَلَقَدۡ بَعَثۡنَا فِي كُلِّ أُمَّةٖ رَّسُولًا أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱجۡتَنِبُواْ ٱلطَّٰغُوتَۖ
“Indeed, We have sent the Apostle to every Ummah (to call for),” Pray only to Allah and keep away from all worship except Him. “(An-Nahl: 36)
The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam also confirmed,
بُعِثْتُ لِأُتَمِّمَ مَكَارِمَ الْأَخْلَاقِ
“I was sent (by Allah) to perfect good morals.” (Narrated by al-Bukhari in al-Adabul Mufrad, Ahmad, and al-Hakim. Expressed valid by ash-Syaikh al-Albani in ash-Shahihah no. 45)
The Purpose and Background of Hizb ut-Tahrir
Realizing the Khilafah Islamiyah Daula on earth, is the main goal behind the establishment of HT and all its activities. What is meant by khilafah is the leadership of the people in a universal Islamic State on the face of this earth, led by a single leader (caliph) who is blessed by the ummah. (See Getting to Know HT, p. 2, 54)
Readers, do you know, what underlies HT to realize the Khilafah Islamiyah Daula on earth?
The foundation is that all Muslim countries today – without exception – belong to the category of Darul Kufur (infidel country), even though the population is Muslim. Because, in HT’s dictionary, what is meant by Darul Islam is an area in which an Islamic legal system is applied in all aspects of life, including government affairs, and its security is in the hands of Muslims, even though the majority of the population is not Muslim.
The Darul Kufur is an area in which the Kufr legal system is applied in all aspects of life, or its security is not in the hands of the Muslims, even though the entire population is Muslim. (See Getting to Know HT, p. 79)
Whereas the benchmark of a country is the condition of its population, not the legal system that is applied and not the security system that dominates. Syaikhul Islam Ibn Taimiyah said,
“The existence of an earth (country) as Darul Kufur, Darul Iman, or Darul Fasiqin, is not a continuous nature for the country, but it is in accordance with the conditions of the population.
Every country whose inhabitants are believers again feared that at that time he would be the land of the guardians of Allah. Every country whose inhabitants are infidels then when it was Darul Kufur, and every country whose population was fasiq then it was then Darul Fusuq.
If the population is not like what we mentioned and changed to other than them, it is adjusted to the condition of the population. “(Majmu ‘Fatawa, 18/282)
Readers, why – according to HT – must be a caliphate?
The answer, because the entire system of government that exists today is illegitimate and not an Islamic system. Whether it’s the royal system, the presidential republic (led by the president), or the parliamentary republic (led by the prime minister). So, it is an obligation to make the Daulah Islam only one country (khilafah), not a union state consisting of many states. (See Getting to Know HT, pp. 49-55)
Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah believes that at the time Daula Islam was only one country (khilafah) and one caliph. However, if it is not possible, then it is not why the power and leadership are divided.
Al-‘Allamah Ibnul Azraq al-Maliki, Qadhi al-Quds (in his time) said, “Indeed the requirement that Muslims (in this world) must be led by a leader alone, is not a necessity if it is not possible.” (Mu ‘ amalatul hukkam, p. 37)
Ash-Syaikh Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab said, “The priests of each school agree that a person who has succeeded in controlling a country or several countries is in the position of an imam (caliph) in all respects. Even if it is not so, then (the affairs of) this world will not erect, because the Muslims since a long time before al-Imam Ahmad to this day are not under the leadership of a mere leader. “(Mu’amalatul Hukkam, p. 34)
Al-Imam Ash-Syaukani said, “As for the spread of Islam and the wider area and its borders, it is understood that the authority in each of these regions is under a priest or ruler who controls it, as well as other regions. Partial command and prohibition does not apply to other areas of authority. Therefore, (in such conditions, pen) is not why the number of leaders and rulers for the Muslims (in their respective territories, pen). And it is compulsory for the inhabitants of the land to carry out the orders and prohibitions (rules, pens) of the leadership to obey them. “(As-Sailul Jarrar, 4/512)
Similarly, explained by al-Imam ash-Shan’ani, as in Subulus Salam (3/347, cet. Darul Hadits).
When was Hizbut Tahrir Established?
This fragmentary group was founded in the city of al-Quds (Jerusalem) in 1372 H (1953 AD) by an alumnus of the al-Azhar University of Cairo (Egypt) who was Maturidiyyah in the problem of asthma ‘and the nature of God, religious issues.
He is Taqiyuddin an-Nabhani, a Palestinian born in Ijzim Qadha Haifa in 1909. Their eldest headquarters are in Jordan, Syiria and Lebanon. (See Know HT, page 22; al-Mausu’ah al-Muyassarah, page 135 and Dismantling the Hizbut Tahrir Sheet (1) hlm.22, asy-Sheikh Abdurrahman ad-Dimasyqi).
If so is his religious beliefs and views, then what is the state of HT itself ?! Wallahul musta’an.
Hizbut Tahrir Thinking Platform
The foundation of HT’s thinking is the Qur’an and as-Sunnah, but with the understanding of Mu’tazilah’s perverted group instead of understanding the Messenger of Allah ‘alaihi wa sallam and his companions. Putting reason in understanding religion and rejecting the hadith of ahad in the matter of faith is their religious character.
Therefore, it is not exaggerated when the experts of this age, asy-Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah, dubbed them with al-Mu’tazilah al-Judud (Mu’tazilah New Style).
Though far away, the friend of Ali bin Abi Thalib radhiallahu anhu has said, “If this religion is the benchmark it is reasonable, the lower part of the khuf is better suited than it is above.”  (Narrated by Abu Dawud in Sunan his No. 162, stated by his al-Shaykh al-Albani)
Likewise, rejecting the hadith of ahad in the matter of faith, means rejecting the many Islamic creeds set by the Muslim scholars. Some of these are: The privilege of the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam for the prophets, the intercession of the Prophet sallallaahu’ alaihi wa sallam for mankind and for the great sinners of his ummah on the day of resurrection, the grave torture, the ash-shirath, the wells and the scales of the charity on the Day of Judgment, the emergence of the Antichrist, the emergence of al-Imam Mahdi, the fall of the Prophet ‘Isa’ alaihissalam at the end of time, and so forth.
As for the issue of jurisprudence, intellect and compassion that became the foundation. Therefore, HT has so many fatwa. Among them are: can kiss nonmuslim women, can see pornographic pictures, can shake hands with women who are not mahram, can for women become members of their shura hall, can issue jizyah (tribute) to the pagan state, and so forth. (al-Mausu’ah al-Muyassarah, pp. 139-140)
Operational Steps to Get the Khilafah
For HT, khilafah is everything. To reach the caliphate, HT sets the following three operational steps:
Establishing a Political Party
Referring to Surah Ali ‘Imran verse 104, HT is convinced it is obligatory to establish a political party. To set it up, it is necessary to take the stage of coaching and co-ordinating (marhalah at-tatsqif). (See Getting to Know HT hlm 3)
At this stage the attention of HT is not centered on the construction of noble and noble character. However, they focus on Hizb skeletal development (party), multiply supporters and followers, and build their followers in halaqah-halaqah with tsaqafah (construction materials) intensively, until finally form a party. (See Getting to know HT pages 22, 23)
As for their recitation with Surah Ali ‘Imran verse 104 regarding the obligations of establishing a political party, it is a far cry from the truth. Are some of the companions of the Messenger of Allaah ‘alaihi wa sallam, the tabi’in, the tabi’ut tabi’in and the priests after those who think so ?!
If that were true, they would have said it and race to build a political party! However, in reality they are not like that. Is HT more understanding about those verses from them ?!
Simply showing the falsification of this revelation is that political parties are woken up on the basis of democracy, which is very contrary to Islam. How does this verse apply to legitimize something contrary to the meaning contained in the verse? Wallahu a’lam.
Interacting with the Community (Society)
Interacting with the ummah (tafa’ul maal ummah) is a stage that must be taken after the establishment of political parties and succeeding in the stages of formation and formation. At this stage, there are four target interactions:
First: Hizb followers, by holding intensive coaching so as to be able to carry out da’wah, navigate the terrain with the upheaval of political thought and struggle (See Getting to Know HT, p. 24). Intensive coaching here is nothing but the doctrine of ‘ashabiyah (fanaticism) and loyalty to HT.
Second: Society, by holding collective / general guidance delivered to Muslims in general, in the form of Islamic ideas and laws adopted by Hizb. And attacking as strongly as possible all forms of interaction between members of the community, did not escape the interaction between the community and its rulers.
Taqiyuddin An-Nabhani said, “Therefore, attacking all forms of interaction that takes place between fellow members of society in order to influence society is not enough, except by attacking all forms of interaction that takes place between the ruler and his people and must be shaken up in full force, by attacking as hard as possible with courage. “(See Getting to Know HT, p. 24, Getting into the Community, p. 7)
How ironic, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam ordered us to be a community of brothers and obedient to the authorities, while HT was just the opposite. They divided the people and destroyed their strength.
Worse, if it is used as a measure of the success of a movement as stated by their founder, “The success of the movement is measured by its ability to arouse dissatisfaction (anger) of the people, and its ability to encourage them to show their anger whenever they see a ruler or regime there is offending ideology, or playing with the ideology in accordance with the interests and passions of the ruler. “(Establishment of Islamic Political Parties, pp. 35-36)
Third: The imperialist pagan countries that dominate and dominate Islamic countries, by fighting against all forms of their treason. (See Getting to Know HT, p. 25)
Fourth: Overthrow the rulers in Arab countries and other Islamic countries, by attacking all forms of interaction that takes place between the ruler and his people and must be rocked with full force, by being attacked with all his might with courage. Opposing them, expressing their betrayals, and conspiracies against the people, launching criticism, control and correction on them and trying to replace them if the rights of the people are violated or do not fulfill their obligations to the ummah, namely if they neglect one of the people’s affairs, or they violate the law Islamic law. (Falls to the Community, p. 7, Getting to Know HT, pp. 16-17)
That is what they appear. However, in reality, in an attempt to overthrow the Muslim rulers, they did not hesitate to ask for help from unbelievers and to seek protection from infidel countries. (See Dismantling the Sheath of Hizb ut-Tahrir  p. 5)
Readers, this is the essence of manhaj Khawarij which was warned by the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. Is it not known that the Prophet sallalla ahu alaihi wa sallam dubbed them “Evil-evil creatures” and “Hell’s dogs”! Even worse when they commented: “In fact, this is the most important part in the activities of amar ma’ruf nahi munkar.” (Getting to know HT, p. 3)
Don’t they reflect on the words of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam,
“There will be after me the rulers whom they do not hold on to my instructions and do not follow my ways. And there will be among those rulers who are satanic in human form. ”
Hudhaifah said, “What do I do if I find it?”
The Prophet said, “You should hear and obey the ruler! Even though your back is whipped and your treasure is seized, then (keep) listen (command) and obey (him). ”(Narrated by Muslim from Hudzaifah bin Al-Yaman radhiallahu‘ anhu, 3/1476, no. 1847)
Likewise, do they not reflect on the words of the Prophet sallalla i alaihi wa sallam, “Whoever wants to advise the ruler about a matter, do not openly. Convey to him personally. If he accepts that advice, that is what is expected. But if you do not accept it, it means he has fulfilled his obligations (advice). “(Narrated by Ahmad and Ibn Abi ‘Ashim, from’ Iyadh bin Ghunmin radhiallahu ‘anhu, declared valid by ash-Syaikh al-Albani in Zhilalul Jannah, hadith no. 1096)
However, it is unfortunate that HT still shows the stance of his head, as they say, “The attitude of HT in opposing the rulers is to express their opinions openly, attack and oppose. Not by nifaq (pretending), licking, tearing faces with them, twisting or turning, and not by way of a safer road. Hizb also fought politically without looking at the results that would be achieved and unaffected by the existing conditions. “(Know HT, pp. 26-27)
They are fascinated by the slogan “The most important jihad is to pronounce haq words in the presence of the ruthless ruler.”
However, unfortunately they can not understand it well. The proof, they scorn the rulers in the pulpits and writings. Whereas the content of these words is to convey the advice “in front of” the ruler, not in the pulpits and so forth.
Did they not practice the will of the Messenger of Allah ‘alaihi wa sallam who was narrated by the companions’ Iyadh bin Ghunmin on ?!
Do not be fooled by their words, “Hizb has, however, restricted its activities in political terms without resorting to violent means (armed struggle) in opposing the rulers as well as those who hinder its propaganda.” (Know HT, page 28)
Because, they will take that way at its stage (final stage).
Takeover of Power (Istilaamul Hukmi)
This stage is the ultimate and ultimate goal of any HT activity.
Taqiyuddin An-Nabhani states, “It’s just that everybody and syabab (youth) of Hizb must know that Hizbis aims to take power practically from the hands of all ruling groups, not from the hands of present rulers. Hizb seeks to take power in the country by attacking all forms of interaction with rulers with the ummah, then making them the last power of being Daulah Islamiyah. “(Destroyed to Society, pp. 22-23)
In this stage, there are two ways to follow:
1) If the country belongs to the Darul Islam category, where the Islamic law system is enforced, but the rulers apply the law of kufur, then the way is against the ruler by raising the weapon.
2) If the country belongs to the Darul Kufur category, where the Islamic law system is not applied, then the way is with Thalabun Nushrah (asking for help) to those who have the ability (strength). (See HT Da’wah Strategy, pp. 38, 39, 72)
Subhanallah! Again the principles of the Khawarij are “The Evil Creatures” and “The Puppies of Hell” they travel.
O, HT, take a lesson from the words of al-Imam Ibnul Qayyim rahimahullah following this,
“The Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam narrated to his people the obligation to deny the evil to be realized through the denial is a kindness (ma’ruf) which is loved by Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala and His Messenger.
If the disbeliever destroys a greater offense and is hated by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala and His Messenger, it is not possible to do so, even though Allah does not love the disbelief and the perpetrators. This is like the disobedience of kings and rulers by rebellion, indeed it is the source of all evil and slander until the end of time …
Whoever contemplates what happens to the Muslim community in the great and small slander, will surely see that the cause is to ignore this principle and impatience for evil, thus attempting to eliminate it but ultimately it comes to greater misfortune. ” (I’lamul Muwaqqi’in, 3/6)
Perhaps HT argues that all rulers are infidels, for implementing laws other than the law of God. We say that not all who are punished with the exception of the law of God are infidels.
Explained by asy-Shaykh Abdul ‘Aziz bin Baz rahimahullah, “Whoever punishes with besides Allah’s law, does not come out of four circumstances:
Someone who says, “I am punished with this law, because he is more important than the Islamic law,” he is infidel with great infidelity.
Someone who says, “I am punished with this law, because it is equal / equal to the Islamic law, so it can punish him and may also be punished with Islamic law,” then he infidels with great infidelity.
Someone who says, “I am punished with this law and judged with Islam more importantly, but it is possible to judge with the exception of the law of God,” then he is infidel with great infidelity.
Someone who says, “I am punished with this law,” but he believes that judging by the law of God is not allowed. He also said that he was punished with the Islamic law more important and could not punish him otherwise, but he was the one who hoped (in this matter), or he did because of the command of his superiors, he disbelieved by the small disbelief, which did not remove it from Islam, and regarded as a great sin. (at-Tahdzir Minattasarru ‘Fittakfir, Muhammad al-‘Uraini p 21-22)
Likewise, if the ruler proved to be disbelievable, then what had to be done earlier was the upholding of arguments and advice to him, not a rebellion.
As for their argument with the hadith of Auf bin Malik radhiallahu ‘anhu,
فقيل: يا رسول الله, أفلا ننابذهم بالسيف? فقال: لا, ما أقاموا فيكم الصلاة
Then said to the Messenger: “O Messenger of Allah! Can we fight them with the sword (rebellious)? “He said,” Do not, as long as they are still setting up prayer in the middle of you! “(Narrated by Muslim, 3/1481, no.1855)
that “establishing prayer in the midst of you” is a metaphor for upholding Islamic laws as a whole. So, according to HT, although a ruler established a prayer, but was judged not yet upholding Islamic laws as a whole, it was considered infidels and could be overthrown! This is a misguided and misleading understanding.
Readers, do you know where that kind of statue is? Still remember the basics of their thinking? Yes, the truth is none other than their mind … Not from the guidance of the scholars. Wallahul musta’an.
Finally, here is a brief overview of the HT and the heretical heresy of the khilafah. Hopefully be a way bridge to reach divine guidance.
